Afternoon Adventure

If your child would enjoy an exciting and stimulating adventure in the afternoon, we will have lots for them to explore.   Each day of the week will have its own special adventure.  Families will be able to register for 1 through 5 days a week for their child to attend and do not need to be included in our morning groups.   The enrichment events will be from 1:00-3:00 and your child is welcome to bring a packed lunch to join the group from 12:00-1:00.  Following is an outline of our areas of focus and their descriptions.

  • Monday, “Wild About Science”:  The children will use all five senses to explore the physical world around us, experiment with matter, and discover how they can help take care of the earth.
  • Tuesday, “Ignite Your Imagination”:  Creative expression will abound as the children explore artists and their techniques, music and movement, and dramatic interpretations of well-known and child created stories.
  • Wednesday, “It’s a Small World After All”:  Learning about different cultures around the world will give the children the opportunity to experience different lifestyles:  their food, language, music, and geographic features.
  • Thursday, “Math Magic”:  The children may go on a pattern hunt, build a tower graph, guess how many children fit in a dinosaur footprint, measure using their feet to see who makes the longest 10 “foot” line, and many other fun activities as they manipulate their mathematical world.
  • Friday, “A Healthier You”:  While all of the components for healthy bodies will be included, much of the year will focus on food and nutrition as the children discover the science of food and create tasty masterpieces to enjoy.
